Kazuo Ohno
Antony and the Johnsons’ new video for "The Spirit Was Gone" is something really very special. It is comprised of breath-taking archival footage of Japanese Butoh dancer Kazuo Ohno, who was featured on the album cover for 2009’s The Crying Light by Antony and the Johnsons (shown above). Ohno passed away at age 103 in June of this year (read the obituary Antony wrote for Ohno for The Guardian) and is survived by his son Yoshito, who continues — at age 72 — to practice Butoh.
